ADVICE FROM NORTHERN POWERGRID

BEING WINTER-READY ISN'T JUST ABOUT GETTING YOUR BIG COAT OUT

Northern winters can be tough. We spend millions of pounds on maintaining and looking after your power network, but power cuts can still happen - particularly in winter weather.

Whilst we will do everything we can to make sure the cold doesn't dampen our winter season festivities, it's important that you know what to do and are prepared if your power goes out.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO

Be Prepared: Make sure you:

  • save our power cut map and add 105 - the number to call in a power cut - on your mobile phone, so you can get the latest updates should the power go out
  • check out our Be Prepared page for handy tips on how to manage during a power cut
  • view our top tips and further information about how we can support you
  • have a grab bag ready in your home with a torch, spare batteries, charged power banks and a blanket - just in case!

Sign up for free extra help: if your medical or personal situation means you - or someone you know - would need extra help in a power cut, join our FREE Priority Services Membership to get extra advice and support. Find out more and sign up today

Share: Check in with family and friends to make sure they're prepared too.
